Attendance will be taken each semester independent of one another.
li
In order to be considered an active member of the band, one must maintain 70% attendance. Those failing to maintain 70% attendance may not participate in events other than rehearsal and mandatory performances or hold an appointed position. Full membership is defined in Article 1, section 5 of the constitution.

A person choosing to take a semester off must declare inactive by notifying the secretary within the first two weeks of the semester. Should a member elect to declare inactive after the two week deadline, all absences will negatively affect his/her attendance. Any member who returns within the same semester after declaring inactivity will be ineligible to participate in Fall Tour (if in fall semester) or post season basketball (if in spring semester.) Attendance will start on the date the member returns from inactivity.

Attendance percentages from the previous spring semester will be used to determine a member’s eligibility to participate in fall tour. Members must have at least 70% attendance for the previous spring semester and 70% attendance for the fall semester to be eligible. The previous fall semester will be used to determine eligibility for any members who were inactive in the previous spring semester.

Absence from rehearsal due to night class will be excused.

The secretary will collect the schedules of all members at the start of each semester and announce a deadline by which all schedules must be submitted. Anyone who turns in his/her schedule by the deadline will receive one full attendance point. No attendance points will be awarded to members who turn in their schedule after the deadline. Members who have night class and do not submit their schedules by the deadline will not be excused from rehearsals missed prior to submission.

Work, work study, RA duty and other organization or club meetings are not excused absences.
